Authors are generally discouraged from withdrawing submitted manuscripts, as doing so can waste valuable resources, including the time and effort of editors, referees, and the publisher. However, authors may request a withdrawal if no progress update has been provided after six months from the submission date.
An article may be withdrawn under the following circumstances: if the initial submission contains a significant error, if the manuscript was accidentally submitted multiple times to different publishers, or if there is a breach of scientific ethical standards. This includes issues such as duplicate submissions to multiple publishers, false claims of authorship, plagiarism or self-plagiarism, the use of fraudulent data, or any other ethical violations.
If an author identifies an ethical issue with their submitted manuscript, they may formally request a withdrawal by submitting a written withdrawal statement to the editorial board.
